May Flowers and a Worm Invasion

After such a long Winter, it is such a blessing to see flowers!  Oh, how I love the birds and flowers.  I have no doubt that they are a gift from God!
Here are a few pictures from the garden from the month of May.  The children are really into sidewalk chalk right now.  They have learned that by getting the chalk wet, the colors are more vibrant.  Watercolors are also fun to use outside.

A few more books were added to the must read list, I wonder if I will ever read them all!  How about you?   Stacks of books everywhere?

These books are wonderful, quick reads with helpful hints and fun, easy projects for inside and outside your home.

Garden Secrets for Attracting Birds gives a ton of information for inviting and keeping birds in your yard.  It also has wonderful pictures of birds to help you and your children identify your feathered friends.

We didn't do a lot of formal Nature Study in May, I just tried to get them outside as much as possible.  Often the "study" part comes naturally if they are given a little guidance.  The one area we did put a some time into was the Earthworm.

I thought this subject would get shrieks of horror from my little girls, but, wow.  Was I wrong.  They were fighting over who got to hold the next worm we dug from the compost.

I wonder what adventures lie ahead for June?  What are you and your crew up to this Summer?  Have you seen or done anything interesting?  Please leave a comment. I would love to hear!

  2. Worms are great. My kids always get excited every time they find a worm! Those books sound good. I must get a book to help the children identify some birds.
